Search for ‘Elvis Presley TV’ on YouTube Music and you will find his TV appearances and performances that are nowhere to be found on other platforms. I’m going to side with YouTube Music here because YouTube is the largest hosting site in the world, both for audio and video. That has everything to do with digital licensing and distribution and nothing to do with the company being unfair to your location. It stays the same for the most part and you can find more songs regardless of your geographic location. Always remember that the music collection in different countries will change a bit depending on where you live. Video collection and podcastsįirst things first. Comparing recommendations is not fair in my opinion, but that’s my opinion. While algorithms keep getting better, searching and custom playlists are still the best ways to enjoy and discover new music. Music tastes are as diverse as our thoughts and way of life. Don’t know the name of the song, but remember the lyrics? Enter the lyrics and YouTube Music will find that song. So I suppose there is some link between Apple Music and YouTube Music, with Spotify following closely. Although I just started using it, YouTube remembered that I once, long ago, searched for the Believer music video.īut it is too early to pass judgment.
As such, Google already knows what you like thanks to all the music-related searches you’ve searched in both Google Search and YouTube. Hence, I bet YouTube Music is built on search data obtained from YouTube. Still, I enjoyed music recommendations and curated playlists. While it has a lot of good music to recommend, it falls behind Apple Music a bit. Apple Music’s recommendation engine is also very good at guessing what I’d like to listen to.
